Social media tips

Here are a few quick tips to help you rise above the noise and get your brand or organisation noticed:

đź‘‘ Content is king in the social media world - It’s about creating a community that is loyal and interested in your brand or organisation. Tailor your content to where it is being placed, for example - just because it works on Facebook, doesn’t mean it’ll work on Twitter, by all means, use the same image/assets but adapt the copy for where it is going to be used.

✨ Inspire â€“ design your content to inspire people, not in the form of motivational content, but content that is designed to inspire interaction, inspire people to share, like or comment on your content. This can be as simple as asking a question.

↔️ Engage - Don’t just use your channels to solely broadcast information, actively engage with your community by commenting on posts, sharing user-generated content, asking questions or utilising polls. Learn to know them and understand them. Let your audience guide what content you produce and how you talk to them.

đź‘€ Keep an eye on trends - Keep an eye on popular trends emerging on each platform. If you notice something rising in popularity and it aligns with your messaging, then it’s a great idea to capitalize on it to drive engagement but you need to make sure you can tie it back to your brand. Be wary of jumping on board every new internet trend you see. Creating posts that don’t align with your overall messaging to appear relevant is a quick way to alienate your target audience.

🗯️ Respond to negative comments - When trying to grow and/or manage your brand on social media, you might be tempted to ignore negative comments. Because, by responding to negative comments, it will bring more attention to them and give others a bad impression of your brand, right? It’s actually the opposite.

Responding to negative comments or reviews will show your followers that your business/organisation care. Plus, if you respond to negative comments well, it can turn disgruntled people into life-long fans. Take the time – it's worth it. Be sure to monitor conversations about your brand because not every user will tag you or comment on your page directly – keyword searches are the best way to do this.
